Aster’s facilities on Bukom and Jurong Island form Singapore’s hub for integrated refining and petrochemical production. Aster Bukom focuses on refining and ethylene production, while Aster Jurong Island manufactures key chemicals. Both facilities are connected by a 5KM subsea pipeline and powered by an experienced and future-ready workforce that is committed to delivering excellence to our partners and customers.
Complementing these sites, Aster Polymer Solutions, also located on Jurong Island, produces high-quality polyethylene resins for diverse applications.
Aster leverages Artificial Intelligence to enhance site safety during construction and turnaround activities while streamlining processes. Robotics and sensor
technologies also play a vital role in ensuring our plants operate safely and reliably.
Building on our history of technological advancements and our solid track record of collaborating with local and international experts to trial and
develop cutting-edge solutions, Aster commits to continue delivering innovative and sustainable products for the future.

Since 1961, Pulau Bukom has been at the heart of the petrochemical industry in Singapore, serving as the site of the nation’s first oil refinery. This strategic island has witnessed the evolution of petrochemicals, trading, and ancillary services. Over the decades, it has evolved into a hub supporting Singapore’s position as a global energy Leader.
Aster Bukom now stands as a world-class, fully integrated oil and chemicals manufacturing hub, which provides transport fuels, base oils, bitumen, base chemicals, and speciality chemicals such as butadiene to customers in Asia and beyond. It also hosts a refinery with a production capacity of 300,000 barrels per day and an ethylene cracker producing 1.1 million tonnes annually.
Alongside Aster Jurong Island, Aster Bukom supplies energy and advanced chemical products regionally via pipeline links to Jurong Island and Singapore’s industrial network.
Penguin Refresh is Singapore’s first fully electric ferry service, operating between the mainland and Bukom, marking a major step in marine electrification. It is the first of three fully electric harbour crafts. This 200-seater ferry can carry up to 3,000 passengers daily, which is about 1.8 million trips annually, saving 6,258 tonnes of CO₂ and 1,952 tonnes of fuel every year for Aster Bukom.

Aster Bukom operates a Marine Terminal on the island with an extensive network of twelve jetties situated on Pulau Bukom Besar and another jetty on Pulau Ular. Our jetties are capable of berthing the world’s largest oil tankers via a Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) that is positioned about two miles south of the island.
This setup enables efficient crude oil imports via SBM, while refined products are transported via subsea pipelines and vessels at the terminal’s wharves.
Aster is a signatory of the Responsible Care® charter, a global chemical industry initiative to continually improve Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards.
